The Panda Binge: A look Inside

 

Habitat

The giant pandas's are mostly found in southern and eastern china.But nowaday's there are very less number of panda's are available in mountain's of china.Giant panda's don't have a permanent den they find shelter in winter season.Their range is about 4 to 7 km but they can travel up to 10 km daily in search of food or water.In past there are very great number of pandas available in forest but now these forest's are under attack in increasing human population.The Chinese government making complete effort for preservation of panda's.

 Charismatic Appearance

Iconic Black And White Fur

The world is aware of giant pandas because of their striking black and white appearance.Although they have similar shape like other bears.Black ears on white head and black patches around the eyes are characteristics of giant pandas.They have a band of black around their backs and black legs.They are also white in the middle.All the giant pandas have same marking, it is difficult to distinguish between them.

Endearing Facial Features

The fur of giant pandas is very thick and oily,which keeps them warm in winter.The temperature on mountains is too cold,their thick fur keep them warm.Giant pandas move very slowly as compared to other bears.They can hardly go to the normal walking speed.In their movement,they seem awkward.

Giant panda's have very significant role in culture.They are represented as peace and friendship not only in Chinese culture but a;so all around the world.The black and white fur of panda is very consistent with Chinese cultural beliefs.These are known as national treasure of china.

Unique Habits or Diet

Giant panda'a are classified as carnivores however diet is closer to herbivores.They eat mostly bamboo stalks,roots and plants.They also eat fishes,small animals or ground meat especially apples and carrots are favourite meal.Their digestive system is not so good,So!they eat bamboo daily to make their digestive system better.Panda's eat for upto 14 hours a day. Unlike other bears giant panda's don't store fat therefore they don't hibernate.

Delightful Cub's




The newly born babies of giant panda's are called cubs.When they are born their weight is about 4 to 8 ounces and about 6 to 8 inches long.They were born pink, almost have no hairs and they were born blind.After 1 week they begin develop their distinctive colour and about 5 to 7 weeks they start opening their eyes.The mother of cub's holds them with her chest human's mother's.The mother panda don't use den as other bears do.The giant panda have nest in hollow tree trunks and caves.The cub's can't stand on their own upto 4 months.The newly mother's don't know how to take care of cub's.They are cured by caretakers.After one year their weight is about 60 to 70 pounds.

The front paw's of giant panda's are very different from other bear's.There's a special bone found in their wrist.The sixth digit,which is used for grasping bamboo.They used them as like as humans used their thumb.The main use of this bone is grasping food.

Sense Of Smell



Giant panda leave scent mark in their territories.These smell is a major form of communication.Giant panda's recognise by smell that there is another panda.To mark their location giant pandas left scent on trees and spread them by their tail.Their  sense of help them to find food.They also used this ability to communicate with each other.
