The Elephant's are largest and heaviest animal on land. African Savanna Elephant's are largest elephants. The largest record of African male elephant is 3.96 metres tall weighing up to 10886 kg. Males elephants reach their full size at the age of 35 to 40 years which is their half life span. The average life of wild elephant is about 60 to 70 years. They are gentle and intelligent creature. It is said that elephants never forget anything. Elephants have long trunk that alone have weight of 140 kg.
Habitat
Elephants often lived in savannas, grassland, forests but they also occupy a wide range of habitat in deserts, swamps, tropical and sub_tropical regions of Africa and Asia. The group of elephants are called Herd, parade.

Elephant's eat grass, leaves, shrubs, fruits and roots. when the season is dry and no leaves are left they ate woody parts of trees and branches. Elephant's normally eat 150 kg food per day. Elephant's are constantly eating creature. They spend third quarter of their day in eating.
Way Of Communication
Elephant's communicate with each other in various ways by, using their heads, eyes, trunks, tusks, tail, feet and even their whole body. They also communicate through sound that create vibration in the land. When they are angry they flap their ears, kicking on ground and tossing their trunk.
Elephant's Baby
Elephant's baby are known as calf. The gestation period of elephant is about 22 months due to the weight of their calf. At birth the calf are covered with hairs which reduced with the period of time. A baby elephant has weight of 90 kg at birth. After 20 minutes they are able to stand. After 2 or 3 days they joined the herd. They feed on their mother milk for about two years.
