They also have great sense of smell. Komodo island is a volcanic island but there are inhabited population of 5700 giant lizards. These lizard's have special suit of Armor. They can eat 80% weight of their body in one sitting. If they can't find food they eat their own young's. if they can't find any food.
Komodo's Habitat
Komodo dragon's are founded in few Indonesian island's of lesser known Sunda group. Their main habitat is komodo Island, the largest at 22 miles long. They live in this habitat from millions of year's. They also like tropical forest's or near water. They travel many distance daily.

Komodo's Sense Of Smell
Komodo's have jacobson's organ on the roof of the mouth that analyzes the information from the tongue and signal the direction of potential prey. Their sense of smell is so acute that they can smell dead or dying animal five mile away. They also detect smell of rotting fish. Their tongue is also work to taste smell of blood in air.
Komodo's Venomous Bite
These lizard's has one of the venomous bite in world. They not only produce lacerations but also deep tissue injury. According to many researches there is venom gland in lower jaw's of komodo's. They are unlikely to produce systematic effect's. The venom also prevent blood from clotting which make great blood loss. The komodo's bite is deadly but not effected for other komodo's. They have sharp and curved teeth and long sturdy jaws to slash their prey. The bite of komodo's is cured but it take's long time. Komodo's attack on human's are rare.
Komodo Dragon's Can Swim
Komodo's are great swimmer's. They also like to live near water or in water. Komodo's travel through water from one island to another in search of food. They swim in both fresh and salty water. Their hind leg's long tail helped them to swim. They also like to sleep underground. Komodo's drink water as like as bird's. They take mouthful of water, lift their head and run down in throat.
